Interactive Stockholm Map by a Local: 100+ Places I Actually Recommend

Explore Stockholm with my interactive map!

Stockholm is a wonderful city to explore, but it is surprisingly difficult to understand from a standard tourist map. The city stretches across numerous islands and many of my favourite places never appear in typical “top ten” lists.

I live in Stockholm and explore the city basically every day through my work as a wedding, architecture and landscape photographer. But that isn’t all! Of course, I love discovering the city aslo in my free time – during my running workouts, when I go for a walk, for a tasty dinner or fika, to a museum or for some outdoor adventures.

Over time, I have collected the best walks, viewpoints, cafés, restaurants, museums, beaches, nature areas and local places that I genuinely recommend to visiting friends. I have now put them together in one private interactive Stockholm map. It isn’t a database of everything in the city. It is my personal selection of places that I believe are actually worth your time and I am sure you will love it!

Why is this map different?

There are thousands of Stockholm recommendations online. The problem is not finding another list. The problem is deciding which places deserve your limited time.

I haven’t included locations simply because they are famous or highly rated on Google. In my map, you’ll find places I know, enjoy or genuinely consider useful for visitors. My family and friends tested them and they loved them.

For all locations, I have added my own notes explaining:

  • why I recommend the place
  • the best time to visit
  • how long you may need
  • what to combine it with
  • photography or seasonal tips
  • links to my detailed Stockholm guides

How does the interactive map work?

  1. Purchase the map through my secure shop.
  2. Enter the email address connected to your Google account.
  3. I add that account as a private viewer.
  4. You receive the map link and simple opening instructions (it’s just a few clicks).
  5. Open it on your phone or computer and switch categories on or off.

The map remains in my account, which means I can improve it without requiring you to download a new version. I will be updating the map regularly when new places open in Stockholm or if I discover another cool spot.

Important: During the initial launch, access is added manually and normally arrives within 24 hours. Once automated delivery is introduced, this will be updated.

  • you enjoy photography and viewpoints
  • you prefer exploring independently
  • you want local food and fika recommendations
  • you are interested in nature and outdoor activities
  • you don’t want to spend hours building your own Google map

It may not be suitable if you want a fixed hour-by-hour guided itinerary or don’t use a Google account.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Gmail address?
You need an email address connected to a Google account. It does not necessarily have to end in @gmail.com. Make sure you enter the correct Google account email during checkout, as this is the address that will receive access.
Can I use the map on my phone?
Yes. You can open the map on a phone, tablet or computer. You must be signed in with the same Google account you provided during checkout.
Can I use the Stockholm map offline?
The interactive Google My Maps version generally requires an internet connection. You can download the Stockholm area for offline use in the regular Google Maps app as an additional backup, but some interactive features may not be available offline.
Is the map always up to date?
I review the map regularly, add new discoveries and remove places that have closed or are no longer worth recommending. However, Stockholm changes quickly, so I cannot guarantee that every opening hour, price or temporary closure will always be current. Please check the latest information before visiting.
Will I receive future additions and updates?
Yes. The map remains in my Google account, so new places and other improvements automatically appear in the map you already have access to. You do not need to download a new version.
Does the map include walking and hiking routes?
Yes. Selected city walks, nature walks and outdoor routes are drawn directly on the map. These routes are intended for inspiration and trip planning. They do not replace current navigation, official trail information or checking local conditions.
    Can I edit the map?
No. Customers receive private viewer access. This protects the structure of the map and prevents accidental changes to locations, descriptions and routes.
Can I share the map with somebody else?
Your purchase provides personal access for one Google account. Please do not copy, redistribute or share access to the map with other people.
What happens if I enter the wrong Google account email?
Contact me with your order number and the correct email address connected to your Google account. I will update your access as soon as possible.
How quickly will I receive access?
During the initial launch period, access is added manually and should normally arrive within 24 hours. You will receive a separate email when your private map access is ready.
